Booking a reiki healing session with a local practitioner can be the first step toward getting help with one or more issues that may be affecting your life, including physical pain, anxiety, and more. It's important to have an understanding of a few things that you should do and not do during the session, as this will help you to get the most out of the experience. While you can always ask your practitioner any questions that come to mind before the session, here are some tips to keep in mind.

Do: Move To Get Comfortable

Your reiki practitioner will ask you to lie on a table in a certain position based on where on your body they'll be focusing their attention. While some people can lie in the same position for long periods of time, this isn't the case for everyone. If you're starting to get uncomfortable, don't feel as though you need to remain in the same position. Update your practitioner on how you're feeling, and then reposition your body so that you're comfortable.

Don't: Try To Stay Awake

It's common to feel deeply relaxed during your reiki session, and there's a good chance that you'll actually fall asleep. Don't feel as though you need to stay awake; being awake won't help you to get more out of the session. If you start to feel as though you're about to nod off, don't resist this feeling. You may wake up later in the session, or your practitioner may gently wake you up at the conclusion of the treatment.

Do: Commit To Relaxing Afterward

It's ideal if you can set aside some time to relax after your reiki session. Doing so may help you to feel more relaxed during the appointment itself. For example, if you have plans to run errands after your appointment, you might find yourself thinking about your to-do list while you receive your treatment. Conversely, knowing that you're going to do nothing but go home and relax for a while can slow your mind down, allowing for deeper relaxation.

Don't: Talk Too Much

While it's certainly fine to share things with your practitioner that you feel are important, you should try to avoid talking too much during your session. This isn't a type of therapy in which making small talk is ideal. Your reiki practitioner is concentrating deeply on treating you, and too much talking may be distracting. Additionally, talking can get in the way of you relaxing fully. Contact a local reiki practitioner to book a session.
